The Piedmont Triad is important to the region in a number of ways. For one thing, it's one of the South's primary manufacturing and transportation hubs. For another, it's an area full of historical and cultural sites and institutions. Kernersville, North Carolina, is located at the intersection of Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point earning it the nickname, "Heart of the Triad." Its location at the geographic center of the Piedmont puts the city of Kernersville right at the edge of both Guilford and Forsyth counties, making it a very convenient place to live and work. Kernersville is one of the fastest growing municipalities in North Carolina, but don't think for a second that it's letting that rapid growth change its fundamental nature. Despite its exponential population growth, Kernersville maintains its small-town community spirit. Kernersville, NC is home to major industrial players such as Deere-Hitachi and Caterpillar. Other major employers include hardware manufacturer Grass America, Caruaustar, HanesBrands, TCI Logistics, and Piedmont Aviation Component Services. The city also opened the doors to its new Kernersville Medical Center in 2011. Because Kernersville puts such an emphasis on sustaining green space, you'll have no trouble finding great city parks on your drive through town. The Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden was a welcome addition to the community in 2011 with seven acres of gardens and over 1,300 different plant species.
